Abridged Prescribing Information:
Diclomol® Gel is a brand of diclofenac, an anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent. When used on INTACT skin, it relieves pain and stiffness and reduces swelling in conditions affecting joints and muscles, e.g. sprains, strains, swelling after injuries, painful joints due to rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, backache etc.
Indication:
Used for the local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation in: (a) trauma of the tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, e.g, due to sprains, strains and bruises. (b) localised forms of soft tissue rheumatism.
Dose & Administration:
• Gently rub a small quantity of the gel on th intact skin, on or around the painful/swollen area, till the gel disappears.
• Usualy a blob equivalent to about 3 cm should suffice. The quantity however would vary depending on the size of the affected area. Do not cover the applied areas with a bandage.
• Apply 3-4 times a day or as directed by your doctor.
Contraindications:
Do not apply the gel on cuts, open wounds or diseased skin area.
Warning & Precautions:
Be careful not to apply the gel on or near the eyes, nose, mouth, genital or anal areas. If the gel does come in contact with any of these areas, rinse with plenty of clean water.
Side Effects:
Diclomol Gel is usually well tolerated. However, discontinue the use of this preparation if itching, redness or skin rash is noticed at the site of application. If you need any further information, please consult your doctor.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:
Obtain your doctor’s consent before using the gel in case you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Use in Children & Adolescents:
Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.
Drug Interaction:
No drug interaction during treatment with diclofenac gel have been reported.
Overdose:
Symptoms following acute NSAID overdosages have been typically limited to lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and epigastric pain, which have been generally reversible with supportive care. Gastrointestinal bleeding has occurred. Hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory depression and coma have occurred, but are rare.
Storage :
After each application, store the tube at or below 30ºC, close cap tightly.
Keep out of reach of children.
Packaging : Each pack contains a tube of 20 gm gel.
